Dr. Mary Tahu Paia is a Lecturer in Climate Change and Biodiversity and Head of the Environment Department at the Solomon Islands National University, with over a decade of experience in teaching, research, and community engagement. She specializes in climate change adaptation, mangrove ecology, biodiversity conservation, and the integration of indigenous knowledge into environmental management. Dr. Mary has led and contributed to numerous national and regional projects on mangrove conservation, ecosystem-based adaptation, and protected area management, working closely with government agencies, NGOs, and local communities. She is actively involved in capacity building, policy development, and academic leadership, and has represented the Solomon Islands in international forums, demonstrating her strong commitment to advancing sustainable and inclusive approaches to coastal and marine conservation.
